DIY Wishesh: Dynamite candle holders

Summer is here and there are many things you can hate about a summer if you live in a hot, third world country like India. However, DIY Wishesh believes you can get smaller pleasures and forget about the bigger problems. Without further delay lets go on to the "doing part" of the episode.

Candle Holders are one of the most commonly used embellishments in the house. While they make for the most romantic dinners, some may be used just to add more color to your lives. Here is how you can make a quirky funny and prank-y candle holder or rather a tea light holder.

Candle-1

If you are wondering what a tea light is.

How would you like to pretend you are lighting a dynamite as you are lighting your candle? That is precisely what we intend to make. Dynamite, as seen in cartoons often, are more than a few sticks of red tall explosives with nitroglycerin. However, we won't be adding the nitroglycerin for safety purposes.

Things you need:

Scissors,

Carboard rolls or cardboard

Candle wax

Tea lights

Mud or sand

Red paper or red and black spray paints

Black Permanent Marker

Glue

Procedure: Take a cardboard roll that is roughly 8 inches tall and just as wide as the tea lights you have. If you can't find such rolls make one yourself with cardboard.

Measure the circumference of the tea light and cut a strip of cardboard that is just as wide and 8 inches tall.

Roll it into a cylinder such that the ends of the roll touch closely but do not over lap. Seal them in place by winding the whole cylinder in tape.

Seal one side of the cylinder with molten wax and trim off the excess. It would add to the color if the wax is a color closer to red.'

Fill the cylinder with mud or sand up to the top but allowing a gap that is equal to the gap of the height of the tea light (without the wick).

Now take a red paper and with the same measurements as the cardboard, cut a strip of paper. Take a stencil or write “DYNAMITE” to add the scary-factor to the dynamite-candle holder. Alternatively spray red paint and stencil the word Dynamite with a black paint.

After spraying or sticking the paper, insert the tea light into the void that you left earlier for the lights. Smear the lights with glue on the side if you wish to have it fixed or just leave the void and use it with several tea lights which can be replaced.

You are done. Stack more than a few like so and bind them in place with a black tape.
