Career Wishesh: Importance of hobbies

Good morning friends, welcome to Career Wishesh-your window to the world of career. First of all, let me take an opportunity to wish you all a happy and joyful Holi. Going forward,  let us briefly discuss whether extra curricular activities can hamper the much designed career designed-be it-by parents for their wards or one's own self.

Many people today were celebrating Holi with much enthusiasm. However, a set of teenagers locked up themselves in rooms or went to their institutions much before the sunrise. When asked whether they don't play Holi—a few youngsters said that they don't want Holi to disturb their studies. It really sounded so funny. How can refraining yourself half-a-day or barely some two hours can take your studies for toss?

The case is not just with Holi. This was just an example to project the way some institutions, people and parents set a parampara that anything that steals an hour from your schedule-no matter how much fun it will give or how much hidden talent it will bring out-should be kept away like poison. How can that be justifiable?

Can parents really imagine that their son/daughter might actually have die hard interest in music and can really come out as a successful musician in the years to come if just he/she is sent to music classes of just an hour daily. We are not asking to compromise on your child's dreams or your dreams for the sake of co-curricular activities. Just allot an hour or two for your child to learn whatever he/she feels like. It could be music or sports or photography or anything for that matter.

Even if your child fulfills your dream by becoming an engineer or a banker, he will still find his ways to break the shell of stress by striking guitar chords or clicking photos. Remember, the professional life offers so much of stress and any professional will search out for the means to beat the stress. And when one doesn't know anything else, he/she will end up boozing and partying weekends. Therefore, parents make sure your today's child doesn't search for clubs and  pubs in future, but wait for the weekend to play the music!
