Impractical Opposition

There is an opposition party in a State that is very impractical in its way of functioning.

For the purpose of addressing, let us here in after call it The Party.

1. The Party announces its own programs but never criticizes other parties.

2. The programs of The Party are not promises that will be fulfilled after its coming back to power. That means their promises are not conditional.   It is not something they will do if and when people vote for them and give them a chance to rule.

3. The Party never spends time in conducting campaigning to tell about their good intentions and ability to do good for the people.

4. The Party instead of finding fault with the party in power; it gives suggestions to improve and offers its help to do it that too by contacting the Government but not through public announcements or through media.

5. The Party does not spend any money to make occasions to expose themselves to public to gain good will but they spend party funds in the projects in the interests of public welfare like drinking water, rescue operations in flood hit areas or those hit by natural calamities.

6. As they believe in democracy, they follow it in their party system also.  The Party is not a one man show.  The leader of the Party is elected by secret ballot.  Whoever is elected as the head of the Party does not try to push his sibling to become his heir.

7. The Party gets its accounts audited by an individual practitioner elected in the general body meeting conducted every year and keeps it open for public scrutiny.

8. It calls for the party workers who do not expect anything from the Party for the services they render other than the remuneration fixed in the general body meeting.

9. The Party makes it clear to the party workers and leaders that the working of the Party will be transparent even after the power is vested in it by the public voting in their favor in the elections.

10. The Party makes it clear to the party workers and the leaders that no ministries are guaranteed after getting into power.  And also the following points are cleared.

11. Ministries will be given to the capable persons with an educational background and experience to manage that particular wing’s ministry.

12. Ministers will only get their remuneration as per the last Government’s salary structure.

13. All decisions and negotiations of ministers will be video recorded to avoid any possible kick backs.

14. Ministers need not be appointed out of the elected members of The Party. They can be chosen from other elected members belong to other parties also if they are found more capable of managing the ministry than anyone in The Party.

15. The Party Members are at liberty to leave the Party at any time if they are not satisfied with the ways of the Party.

16. The elected members of the Party should be physically and mentally fit and there is an age limit to work as a public servant.

17. As the entire treasury belongs to the public and as the Government is only a custodian to it and the public assets, giving a subsidy by Government at its whims and fancies or as an attractive offer to get popularity and to strengthen our vote bank is ruled out.  Whatever subsidy or any other compensation to be declared will be as per the public opinion but not as a kind and humane gesture of the Government.

18. Last but not the least is the election manifesto that is very simple.  The Party promises the general public that it will safe guard the monies and assets of the State and spend judiciously.  In order to come out of the State debts, the State will be made commercially strong by selling the products of the State to other States or other Countries.  In addition to the attempt to increase the revenue of the State, expenditure of the State will be brought down which can be by scrapping increments of public servants for some time.  All efforts will be made to make the State self sufficient without expecting any special grants from the Central Government excepting the rightful share in the common revenues.

If you want to know what happened to The Party, let us flow our imagination more and come back in a day or two.  You can compare with your imagination and you can improve our version.
