The 29th State
India has welcomed the new state in the form of Telangana. But before the formation of this state, Indian Parliament rocked with protests and many controversial incidents. The pro-united members of Parliament protested in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha against the division. Protestors surrounded the Parliament, MPs tried to break the mic of Rajya Sabha speaker and pepper spray incident were the blot in Indian democracy. Especially the pepper spray incident caught the entire world's attention and the MP who vowed to quit politics if the separate Telangana state is formed, resigned to his MP seat and bid a good bye to politics. The 29th state of Indian union was formed on June 2nd.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi formed government in Telangana state while Telugu Desam party won the elections in Andhra Pradesh state. A huge disappointment to Congress party in Telangana despite granting the statehood while a setback for YS Jagan's YSR Congress party.
On the other hand, the first linguistic state had a new capital, Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh government has announced Vijayawada as the new capital of state which combines, Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, Tenali and Guntur cities.
NaMo Wave
The May Annual elections gave a clear mandate to Bharatiya Janata Party to form government in the national capital. Narendra Modi wave rocked the entire nation and Congress faced a humiliating defeat in its 130 years history. Post the May elections also, the Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir saw the drastic raise of BJP. Especially in the Kashmir valley where BJP is quite weak, won 22 seats. In Maharashtra, BJP formed government after three decades and in Jharkhand, the people gave a clear majority.
All the eyes are now on New Delhi. With Aam Aadmi Party quitting the government and President of India approving to dissolve the Assembly, fresh polls are like in the national capital. Narendra Modi factor could play a major role and it will be a final verdict whether Modi is performer or not.
Pawan Kalyan
This name is a storm in the Andhra Pradesh politics. Actor Pawan Kalyan [Brother of Megastar Chiranjeevi] was seriously upset with the division of state. He formed a party called 'Jana Sena' and campaigned against the Congress party in South India especially in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Pawan Kalyan took on the present Telangana state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and had a verbal war during the election campaign. He met Narendra Modi before elections and extended his wholehearted support. Then in AP, he backed Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party and toured many places in support of BJP-TDP alliance.
MS Dhoni Retires
India's most successful captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket after the third Test between Australia and India at Melbourne. Dhoni vowed this decision to concentrate on the shorter format of the game. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand will be testing time for Dhoni where Team India will be defending the title. Dhoni led the Indian team to number one ranking in the ICC Test chart and has credits to be the only Indian captain to have lifted the Twenty20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy. Virat Kohli has been named the captain of the Indian Test side.
