Police seize Rs. 55 lakh voter-bribe money

money-siezeKadapa district police, who had seized Rs. 28 lakh from some people on Monday, today confiscated an amount of Rs. 55 lakh from a car and arrested three people in connection with the seizure.

The seizure confirms the apprehensions of the elections authorities that money is going to be used to bribe voters in a big way.

Police found the cash today in a car during a routine check up at the PP Kunta Check post in Gopavaram Mandalam of the district. Police found in their preliminary investigations that the amount was being transported from Podalakuru in Nellore district to Mydukuru in Kadapa district for bribing voters.

Police arrested one Mr Prabhakar reddy of Podalakuru and two of his supporters. They are being interrogated at Kadapa. Police effected another seizure of cash to the tune of Rs.8.5 lakh at Reddyvari Palle check post and arrested one person.
