Even as reports indicated that the internationally acclaimed Indian spiritual Guru Sri Satya Sai Baba is almost in his final moments, thousands of his devotees started pouring into the Puttaparthy town.
Expecting trouble and anger from the Baba devotees in the wake of media reports that some of the Satya Sai Central Trust members have neglected his health and are out to usurp his properties, police authorities have clamped down section 144 in the tiny town as a precautionary measure.
Nearly 5000 police constables including some heavily armed Para military guards have already taken positions in the Prasanthy Nilayam and in the town on the instructions of the government. Minister Geetha Reddy is personally supervising the situation from the Prasanthi Nilayam.
Meanwhile, Minister Raghuveera Reddy said today that the doctors are making their last-ditch efforts to revive the life of the God-man Sri Satya Sai Baba whose health condition has deteriorated completely.
Addressing media persons at his chambers in the secretariat in Hyderabad this afternoon, he said the condition of Baba remained highly critical and most parts in his body were not responding to treatment.
Hospital director Dr Safaya also told journalists in Puttaparthy that the condition of Baba is causing serious concern to doctors who are trying their best to save his life.
The Satya Sai Central Trust has also convened an emergency meeting of its members today to discuss the issue and make some important announcements.
