Moving platform trials for darshan commence

Moving platform trials for darshan commence The TTD Administration began the trial run of the newly developed automatic moving platform at the Balaji temple in Alipiri on Thursday.

Disclosing this to media persons in Tirupathi, EO Mr I Y R Krishna Rao said that the moving platform, presently running on trial basis, is only a proto-type and would be introduced in the Tirumala shrine after thoroughly studying its pros and cons.

However, before it is introduced in the main temple, the trial runs would be conducted for a month to know its advantages and disadvantages during its operation, he said.

“Pilgrims would be able to have Darshan of the Lord for at least 20 seconds peacefully if this mechanical system is introduced in the main temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala,” Krishna Rao said.

The moving platform, with 3.5 ft in width and 5 ft in length, can carry 12 persons at a stretch and moves at a speed of 2 mph. It would be operated with in the 23/17 feet area covering from Garudalwar to statues of Jaya-Vijaya inside the sanctum sanctorum, as per the TTD plans.

The introduction of this system will not violate the Agama Sastra traditions as it would not pose any threat to the regular Sevas of the Lord.

“But only Mahalaghu darshan is possible with this moving platform,” he said, adding lot of things are yet to be finalized and worked out for the introduction of this system.
