
Police were caught unawares today when some 15 OU students had barged into the Assembly premises as part of their ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme surpassing the unprecedented security measures in and around the area and facing rubber bullets and lathicharge.
The students dared police chasing at the main gate of the assembly and, finding ways to escape the police net, they ultimately found themselves in the assembly premises. Shocked at the development, police immediately arrested them when they sat on a dharna after barging into the premises through the Public Gardens.
Students turn violent
Meanwhile, enraged at police attempts to foil their ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme, students burnt 8 RTC buses today at various places in the city. Some of them destroyed the furniture and windows of the Varun Motors in Tarnaka.
Police arrested several students for indulging in violence and destroying RTC buses and burning a bus in Secunderabad.
