In a U turn, the 30 Telangana region congress MLAs and MLCs, who vowed not to return to Hyderabad from Delhi till the congress leadership gave an assurance on the formation of the separate Telangana state, said today that they are satisfied with their discussions with the central leaders and are on their way back home to Hyderabad.

“We have got a clear assurance from the party high command and we feel the Telangana state is at our doorstep,” they told media persons before leaving for the airport on their way to Hyderabad.

When asked to explain on the assurance, the MLAs said central leaders Chidambaram, Veerappa Moily and Janardhan Dwivedi have promised them that the Telangana issue would be discussed in the core committee meeting of the party.

“We felt that the Centre would stand by its statement made on December 9, 2009 and we are also sure that the separate state of Telangana would be formed in the near future,” the MLA said adding that they have got some clear assurances from the above leaders to that effect.

The MLAs said that they are returning home as they have got some assurances from these leaders on the formation of separate state. “The party is ready to fulfill its promises through a discussion in the core committee meeting,” they said.

The MLAs, putting up brave faces to avoid criticism back in Hyderabad, said that the government will hold another all party meeting on the issue of Telangana after a discussion in the party core committee meeting. “Then the government will try for consensus on the issue,” they said.
