BC reservations won’t come down: BotsaMinister Botsa Satyanarayana said today that the government has issued GO extending reservations for the BCs for another 10 years.

Revealing this in a media conference in Hyderabad, the minister said the government will take steps to ensure that the percentage of reservations for BCs will not come down in the ensuing local body elections.

“There is no truth in the allegations that government is trying to reduce the percentage of reservations for the BCs,” he said, adding that the government will file a review petition in the Supreme Court to continue the reservations for BC at the present level, if necessary.

The state government is worried with the Supreme Court judgment that all types of reservations together in any state shall not exceed 50 per cent under any circumstances. In the wake of the Judgment, the government is trying to seek a constitutional amendment to protect the quantity of reservations to the BCs as already the percentage has already reached 60 per cent in the state.
