Minutes before the Telangana Rana Bheri public meeting of the TDP Telangana Forum was to begin in Karimnagar this evening, unidentified pro-Telangana people set fire to the TDP district office in the town.
The incident took place when all the district leaders and activists locked the office room and left for the venue of the meeting. Even the watchman of the office premises was not there giving an opportunity for the arsonists to set fire to the party office.
Police and locals extinguished the fire which destroyed the office furniture, records, podium and TV set in the office.
Police suspect the incident was the handiwork of the TRS and pro-Telangana elements who are opposing the Rana Bheri meeting of the TDP Telangana Forum. They are demanding the TDP to conduct the meeting without the party banners and flags.
