Taking a dig at TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu who demanded Bharat Ratna posthumously for the late NTR, Union Minister Purandhareswari heckled at him for his demand and asked him why he made no attempts to get the highest civilian title for the legendary actor during his 9-year rule.
“Why didn’t you try to get Bharat Ratna for him during your regime? You could have pressurized the NDA government to accept for it since you were the king maker then,” Purandhareswari asked him during her interaction with journalists on the sidelines of a college programme in Ongole on Monday.
“You said you demanded the government to name the Shamshabad international airport after the late NTR but why didn’t you make it a condition when you signed the MOU with the GMR group?” she asked him.
She said that Chandrababu Naidu had weakened all the programmes introduced by the late NTR. “He has even removed the picture of NTR from the membership books but now he is talking of NTR. How preposterous it is,” she said sarcastically.
