Azad forced to explain his Beijing statement

azad1Passing the buck to the media for allegedly twisting his statement on Telangana in Beijing, Union Minister and in charge of AP congress affairs Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad said he had only commented that there was no unanimity in AP on the division of the state as in case of the division of Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

“What I said was that there was no unanimity even on the six recommendations made by the Justice Sri Krishna Committee forcing us to initiate discussions on the issue. I never said that the issue has come back to the square one,” Azad explained after the T congress leaders found fault with his Beijing statement and refused to participate in the proposed talks on Telangana.

“Azad should withdraw his statement on Telangana first. Then only we will attend talks,” the Telangana leaders said. After Azad explained his statement on the issue, the T congress leaders agreed to attend the talks in Delhi.

What is more important is that Azad asked congress leaders of both areas not to indulge in allegations and counter allegations on the issue. “You have lived together for decades and you should live in harmony in future too,” he reportedly said, adding, “it is not good for you to abuse each other.”
