Fire fighting personnel have rescued five persons-four children and a woman trapped in the debris of the five-storied apartment complex ‘Syamala Sadan’ that sank into the ground at Santhi Nagar in Kakinada today.
The parking length and an extent of the first floor went into the ground in the sinking sending residents of the complex onto roads fearing for their lives. Some more persons and some vehicles were trapped in the debris and efforts were on to rescue the remaining people.
On hearing the news, chief minister Kirankumar reddy ordered the District Collector and the SP to reach the spot and coordinate the rescue efforts. He has directed them to procure cranes from the navy personnel and the ONGC and experts from Vijayawada to carry out rescue operation.
