In the wake of the letter written by the Minister, Mr Sankara Rao to the Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and chief minister Kirankumar Reddy seeking more security for him, a special committee appointed by the DGP today reviewed the security requirements of the minister.
The committee, consisting of the Additional Police Commissioner, Hyderabad and the IG, Intelligence wing, today held a meeting in the DGP office and reviewed the threat to the life of Sankara rao.
The committee has decided to enhance the security to the minister wherever necessary during his official trips to the districts and at his residence in view of the threats he is getting.
Mr Sankara Rao has been enjoying the security of 32 policemen who included personal body guards, escort police, guards and a police picket at home since July 24. “If necessary, additional security will be provided to the minister and the decision will be taken by the special committee,” said the DGP in a statement.
