Textiles Minister Sankara Rao’s Gandhigiri has paid dividends. Responding to his protest over lack of furniture in his chambers, Chief Minister Kirankumar reddy today ordered officials to provide the required furniture to his room immediately.
Kirankumar called the senior officials including the chief secretary Mr Pankaj Dwivedi and sought explanation for not arranging furniture in Sankara rao’s chambers. “Please respond by ordering the required furniture for him at once,” Kiran directed the CS.
Sankara rao called a meeting of senior officials on Friday to his chambers to take up review of several programmes related to his ministry and made them sit on the floor as there was no furniture. The review meeting was however skipped by the CS.
Sankara Rao also called media persons and told them to telecast the review meeting live on their channels calling it a protest and Gandhigiri for not providing him furniture despite several requests over the last two months.
The government spent more than Rs.3 lakh for furniture in his old office but Sankara rao shifted his office to another block in the secretariat two months ago. Since there was no furniture in the new chambers, he asked the Chief Secretary to arrange the required furniture. “The CM has not sanctioned the required money for the purpose,” he told journalists during the protest.
