Jagan’s surrender to cong would lead to Chiru’s rise in state

JaganChiruEven as the YSR Congress party president Mr. YS Jaganmohan reddy is in the process of implementing his compromise formula with the congress leadership, decks are being cleared for the emergence of mega star Chiranjeevi as a power center in the state congress.

That Jagan will turn into a political zero in the state congress over a period of time but before the next general elections became clear when he announced in his much publicized recent CNN-IBN interview that he would not have any tie up with BJP or BJP led NDA in the 2014 elections but would go for an alliance with the UPA at the Centre in the interests of the state.

The interview followed Jagan’s meeting with the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the name of seeking solution to the farmers’ problems in the state. While Jagan announced his willingness to have a tie up with the UPA at the Centre for protecting the interest of the state, he cleverly avoided revealing his mind whether he would opt for such a tie-up with the Congress in the state for the assembly elections.

This is an indication that he has kept the option of merging his party with the congress before 2014 elections open. In fact, the possible merger of his party with the congress was reportedly said to be prime condition imposed by the congress leadership on Jagan when he announced his surrender to Delhi in the most diplomatic way.

Merger royal, merger cheap

As all indications show, Jagan will surely merge his party with the congress before the next general elections, as he had reportedly agreed in Delhi, according to the talk among the journalistic circles in Hyderabad.

Chiru also merged his party with the congress but that was a merger royal as it had taken place at the instance of the congress high command. This was the reason for his carrying weight with the congress party. The other day, chief minister Kirankumar reddy announced in the Uttarandhra Congress Praja Garjana at Visakhapatnam that the mega star would rule the roost in the state congress in the coming days.

The chief minister must have made the announcement with the full permission of the congress high command indicating its tilt towards the mega star. However, the possible merger of YSR congress with the congress, whenever it takes place, would be at the begging of the tainted youth leader.

This means Jagan has perennially lost the chances of becoming the chief minister of the state, if any, through his YSR Congress party. He would be forced to live like a political minion who would be limited to look after his businesses and continue as a namesake politician in the state congress while Chiru will continue to rule the roost and may even become the CM with the backing of the high command.

As his ruthless baiter and TDP Chief Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said, there was a diametrical change in the tone and tenor of Jagan in his criticism of congress leadership, especially Sonia Gandhi. After his recent Delhi trip, Jagan has been concentrating only on attacking the TDP.

Political circles are agog that Jagan changed his stance and opted for a compromise with the party leadership to save his skin from the hands of an aggressive CBI and from a possible arrest too. In the face of the CBI investigation, Jagan’s immediate priority was to protect his illegal properties from confiscation rather than fulfilling his ambition of becoming the chief minister of the state.

Given the predicament of Jagan, it was good for him to have arrived at a compromise with the congress leadership to protect his personal interests rather than his political interests. Once he is arrested by the CBI, he will also lose his face among the masses let alone fulfill his political ambitions. He may now avoid this prospect as he has made an agreement with the congress high command.

In the process, Jagan dug up his own political grave at the cost of his political career at a young age making vulnerable to turn himself into a political buffoon in the state who would only be willing to dance to the tunes of the congress leadership.

He is totally at the mercy of the congress for ever now and whatever political grass he would be asked to eat by the high command, he is bound to accept it with grace. What else would Jagan inherit for the faux pas committed by his late father, after all?
