Former BJP National President L K Advani, who is on a nationwide Jan Chetna Yatra for 'good governance and clean politics’ is right now in the Telangana parts of Andhra Pradesh. Today he addressed the gatherings at Nizamabad and suburbs, as a part of his tour on the ninth day of his 38-day campaign against corruption.
Addressing a press conference here, he said large amount of black money was stashed away in the foreign banks in the past six decades --1948 to 2008. If the black money amounting to Rs 25 lakh Cr which was in foreign countries was brought back, there would be no shortage of funds to make India a superior country.
Mr Advani has termed the bypoll results of Monday an 'electoral warning' to the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre. He said the bypoll results were "evidence of people’s anger" against "scams under the UPA-II regime." The senior BJP leader was in Maharashtra when the bypoll results were announced. He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should "take a lesson" from Congress’ defeat in the state’s Khadakwasla Assembly seat and take action on black money and corruption.
He also said there was no need for a resolution to be passed by any assembly for the formation of a new state. "The constitution of India does not provide anything of that sort. There is no need for any assembly resolution," he said. Advani predicted that a separate Telangana state would become a reality in 2012. While assuring the people of the region that the BJP would stand by them, he recalled that three new states were created during BJP rule.
Advani will not be visiting coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, where some groups opposed to bifurcation of the state burnt his effigies protesting his pro-Telangana statements.
