Police ask T cong MPs to retain their gunmen

Officials of the state police intelligence department today wrote letters to the Telangana congress MPs asking them to reconsider their decision of withdrawing their gunmen and moving without security.

The officials in their letters asked the MPs to keep their gunmen with them for their safety in the backdrop of the increasing Maoist violence in the state. The letters were addressed to all T congress MPs individually.

It might be mentioned that the Congress MPs of the Telangana region have surrendered their gunmen a few days ago protesting against the stance of the Centre and the congress party towards the Telangana issue.

The MPs are up in arms against the congress leadership for delaying the formation of the Telangana state even after a prolonged agitation. Recently, three Congress MLAs had quit the party and jointed the TRS which has been spearheading the T agitation for several years.

Media reports said even some MPs are also thinking of quitting the party and joining the TRS for strengthening the T agitation.
