In a body blow to the allies of the TDP chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu, the Supreme Court today dismissed the petitions of Eenadu group chairman Mr Ramoji Rao and others who challenged the orders of the AP High Court directing CBI and ED investigation into their business dealings with Chandrababu Naidu during his regime as CM.
TDP MP Mr Nama Nageswara rao and party leader Mr CM Ramesh were others whose petitions were dismissed by the apex court.
Ramoji and others approached the SC seeking to quash the orders of the high court on the plea that the HC passed the orders without serving any notices on them. “The prestige of our corporate businesses is at stake because of the orders and hence, we pray for the dismissal of the HC orders,” they pleaded in their petitions.
The apex court’s division bench consisting of justices Deepak Mishra and Bhandari directed the petitioners to approach the high court only if they have any grievances on the orders. “We can’t involve at this stage,” ruled the apex court.
The apex court has also directed the High Court to hear them and take a final decision on the issue within 15 days. "You can again approach this court if you feel justice has not been done in the high court," said the court in its order.
The petitioners argued that the allegations, contained in the PIL of Pulivendula MLA Ms Vijayamma, were all false and misleading. However, the SC didn’t take notice of this argument.
It might be mentioned that the AP High Court had directed the CBI, ED and the state police to conduct independent preliminary investigation into the alleged illegal properties of Chandrababu Naidu and his business relations with Ramoji and others.
