A section of the Telugu media today reported that the high court had issued notices to the Telugu dailies Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy on publishing news stories about the details of the CBI investigation into Emaar Properties-APIIC land scam.
The notices were issued on a petition filed by Mr K. Raghurama Krishnam Raju who purchased plots and villas in the Emaar Township. The petitioner alleged that the CBI has been leaking the details of the investigation to the two dailies and the dailies are publishing stories depicting the buyers of plots as criminals.
The petitioners pleaded with the court to order an inquiry into the leaking of details and find out the truth. The court questioned the CBI lawyers on the reported leakages. The CBI counsel denied the allegation.
The court then issued notices to the dailies Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy and the CBI director, CBI joint director, Union Home Secretary and the Emaar Hills Township management.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case to next month while asking the CBI to furnish the information of the investigation before it. (JUBS)
