The controversial film `The Dirty Picture’ which was banned in our neighboring country has had many controversies in our country too. But the latest was the petition by the kin of late southern actress Silk Smitha seeking a ban on the movie filed in the High Court. When the petition came up for hearing on Thursday the apex court dismissed a writ petition.
Silk Smitha's brother V. Naga Varaprasad Rao, petitioner objected to the way his late sister was portrayed in the film. He also claimed that the filmmakers never took the family's consent for making the film on Silk Smitha and so wanted the court to stop the film's release.
Justice Vilas V. Afzalpurkar dismissed the petition after the filmmakers clarified that the film was not based on the life of the actress. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) also conveyed to the court that there is no scope for the court to review the decision of the censor board as the filmmakers themselves have denied that the film was based on Silk Smitha's life.
Meanwhile while I was scanning through the media content over the film starring Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor, received laudable comments from a media scion. This comment the Wishesh team would like to bring it to your notice for enrichment, because beauty is in the beholders eye and one can enjoy only when glanced through that eye.
Hence this exact reproduction, ` To have a Hindi film heroine who is unapologetic about using her sexuality to achieve means is always welcome. To have a Hindi film heroine who does it with such relish is a real victory. And Vidya Balan pulls off Silk in a manner no current female actor can. Heck, no actor in recent times has. She is fearless, giving an uninhibited portrayal of someone who enjoys adulation, but dies a lonely death. She is the fantasy of millions, but craves love. She doesn’t get it. And Vidya brings all that -- the flamboyance, the sensuality, the heartbreak -- to her role (and without coming across even a tad vulgar).’
Not enough, last week I had watched her at the Mumbai Race course, when she came up for awarding the `The Dirty picture’ Prize to the winning Horse. She was so flamboyant but with much dignity, she looked awesome with this deadly combination. Kudos Vidya, you knocked the guts off the stars!!!
