Govt withdraws 843 cases against students

Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said the Government has so far withdrawn 843 cases registered against students and others who participated in the agitations pro and against separate Telangana state.

Home Minister made the statement on the withdrawal of cases after a high level review meeting at the Secretariat today. Police Commissioner AK Khan, MIM MP Mr Asaduddin Owaisi and senior officials participated in the review meeting.

Sabitha told journalists that till now 383 GOs were issued in connection with the withdrawal of cases and 824 cases are yet to be withdrawn. “A decision will be taken soon on the withdrawal of the remaining cases,” she said.

Speaking about the category-5 cases involving violence, the home minister said the government would have to consult legal experts before withdrawing them. (JUBS)
