DSP forges dead man’s sign, arrested

Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives has taken into custody suspended DSP Sarveshwar Reddy one more time for purportedly forging the signature of a dead man.In the most recent time he was released from jail in concern to a top-heavy assets case.

Sarveshwar Reddy alleged that IPS officials in the intelligence department and ACB have implicated him in the case. When he came to the ACB office on Monday to appear before the investigating official to fulfil the bail condition, the ACB told him that he was ‘under arrest’ again.

The arrested accused were produced before the special court for ACB cases and remanded to judicial custody till April 20, 2012.

This is the second time the ACB has arrested Sarveshwar Reddy. Earlier he was arreted on November 11, 2011 by the ACB for amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 5 crore.

The suspended DSP while working as the assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of Rajendranagar sub-division in Cyberabad police limits had pressurized P Gopal, a resident of Kotha Thanda in Shamshabad mandal and got registered agricultural land belonging to his late brother P Shankar by way of impersonation.

The former district registrar T Anantharam, who was then sub-registrar of Shamshabad, had registered the land though there was clear instruction from revenue authorities not to register certain lands as they were notified as assigned lands, the ACB DG said.

According to ACB officials, Shankar had purchased 5 acres of agricultural land in survey number 50/33 of Madanpally village in Shamshabad mandal in 1994 and he died in 2001. In the year 1999 the government had declared that lands in survey numbers 50/1 to 141 of Madanpally village were assigned lands and the revenue authorities had directed the sub-registrar office of Shamshabad not to register any land in the notified survey numbers.

However, Sarveshwar Reddy, abusing his official capacity as the ACP of Rajendranagar had pressurized Gopal to sell 2 acres of land for Rs 8 lakh and got the same registered in favour of Rahul Agarwal on March 8, 2010. ACB officials said Agarwal is suspected to be a benami of the accused police official, ACB officials said.

Subsequently, Sarveshwar Reddy force Gopal to sell 1.20 acres of land and got the same registered in favour of his father-in-law M Thimma Reddy.  The sale deed was registered on June 6, 2011. The disgraced DSP forced Gopal to impersonate himself as Shankar and forced him to sign as Shankar for the purpose of registration of the land, ACB officials said.

ACB officials also said that sub-registrar Anantharam had registered the sale deeds by misusing his official position and simplified financial benefit to Sarveshwar Reddy. As there were strong directions that should not register the above said land.
