At least 15 persons were killed and over 20 seriously injured in a blast that took place at Vizag Steel Plant in Vishakapatnam of Andhra Pradesh at around 8.30 PM on Wednesday. The sources have said that the casualties were likely to increase. The incident took place as the oxygen house blasted. The injured have been shifted to the local hospitals. Among the dead, there are three general manager rank officials.
The labour union activists who reached the spot there have said that the incident took place due to the mere negligence of the management. Some even said that employing inexperience contract employees is leading to this mishap. Whatever might be the reason, the lost lives cannot be brought back. The government should ensure that there are proper fire safety measures in all the companies.
The unfortunate thing is that CMD of the Vizag Steel Plant didn’t even visit the hospital nor speak to the media.
