The incarcerated YS R Congress Party Chief and the Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had another pitfall today. The Supreme Court rejected his plea that his arrest was illegal. The Apex Court further added that the terms of arrest would be considered alongwith the bail. However the Kadapa MP got respite when the apex court had issued notice to the CBI his plea for bail in the disproportionate assets case.
This was in continuation to the arguments of Mr Jagan's senior counsel Ram Jethmalani, while briefing that various principles relating to grant of bail set by the Supreme Court had been overlooked by the Andhra Pradesh High Court and a CBI court judge while denying him the relief.
As per the counsel merely being wealthy or in public life does not deprive him of his right to get bail. The young leader was arrested by CBI on May 27 for allegedly amassing wealth exceeding his legal income. Inspite of being inside he had calimed enormous majorities in the by elections conducted in June 2012. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
