Cyclone Neelam: Might make landfall today evening

The cyclone in Bay of Bengal named Neelam is fast approaching towards Tamil Nadu-Andhra borders. The meteorological department officials have said that Nilam cyclone is going to land between the border of these two states (between Nagipattinam and Nellore) by Wednesday evening. They have also said that the impact of Neelam cyclone would be more in Tamil Nadu than in Andhra Pradesh. However, Nellore district has been witnessing heavy rains for the past one day due to this possible cyclone hit.

There in Chennai, all schools have been kept closed even on Wednesday. Several rescue teams, which were pressed into action on Tuesday, are alert. People in the low-lying areas were already evacuated and officials said that they took all the measures to minimize the damage. Earlier, deep depression was noticed in Bay of Bengal and officials said it might turn into cyclone. Soon after it turned into cyclone, they named it as Nilam. They even expected the cyclone to land by Tuesday evening.
