MLA Sankar Rao was arrested by the police after his daughter in law Vamsi Priya filed a dowry harassment case against him. Vamsi Priya has now withdrawn the case after an out of court settlement.

The MLA was shifted to a hospital after developing health complications in jail. A case was filed against him and his son and daughter, leading to his arrest. Vamsi Priya's in laws reportedly agreed to provide her maintenance payments. Keeping in view the MLA's health, she conceded to the agreement.  Vamsi Priya has withdrawn the case and has filed a petition in the high court stating the same.
