II Phase Polling concluded

Barring some minor incidents, the II phase of Panchayat elections concluded peacefully.

Although the time is up at 1.00 pm for franchising votes, the voters already reached polling stations and waiting in the queues are allowed as per the State Election Officer Navin Mittal’s instructions.  

Odd incidents are,

250 votes were found with a single house address in Mulapadu in Krishna District.  TDP supporters objected it and on finding the non locals there they thrashed them.  Villagers attacked police who lathi charged them earlier.  When Devineni Uma went to their support, police arrested him.

About ten people died during the polling at various places in the State.  

As election symbol for BJP candidate is missing in the ballot paper, the party leaders stopped the voting process at Kondapur in Nalgonda district.

Villagers of Lakshmapur and Maredpalli in Nizamabad district boycotted the elections demanding separate Panchayats for these two villages.

Police arrested four YRCP leaders while they were distributing cash at the polling center at Koyyalagudem in West Godavari District.
