The BJP led NDA government which is slowly implementing some important decisions of the previous UPA government has turned tables for one bill and it is the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill, shortly called as Communal Violence Bill.
The UPA government tried its best to bring the bill to the Parliament but BJP has seriously opposed it and termed the bill as a threat to country’s communal harmony. PM Narendra Modi before the elections dubbed the bill as recipe of disaster and after taking charge, the new government is completely ignoring it.
The Home Ministry officials say that there occurred no discussion over the Communal Violence bill and it is not possible to table it and sources added the home ministry is planning to formulate a national action plan to deal with communal violence. The home ministry is preparing a presentation to PM Modi on how to deal with Communal riots. Apart from this, the ministry is also focusing on other internal security issues such as Maoism in Chhattisgarh, choking infiltration in Jammu & Kashmir and dealing with insurgency in the North East.
