The Reserve Bank of India [RBI] is yet to give an approval for the rescheduling of the farm loans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. This has been confirmed by none other than RBI Deputy Governor R Gandhi on Monday evening at an event organised by FICCI.
While the Andhra Pradesh government claims that RBI has agreed for rescheduling, Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender made opposite statements. However R Gandhi said that the discussions between the Central Bank and respective state governments are going on and once the governments submit full details with regards to the rescheduling as per RBI's guidelines, we will consider. But Gandhi declined to comment AP government's claim.
Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who recently claimed that RBI has agreed for farm loan waiver after AP CM Chandrababu Naidu having a word with RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan on phone, was unavailable to comment on Gandhi's statement. Moreover, AP government is expecting a letter from RBI regarding the guidelines today. While Telangana FM Rajender said there are positive indications from RBI but a formal nod is due to arrive.
On the other hand, opposition parties are getting ready for agitations. CPI has announced that it will stage protest in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh and the main opposition, YSR Congress is also gearing up to join the protest.
