Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is trying to make all necessary arrangements to supply mineral water to the slum areas in its jurisdiction.
It already selected 40 areas regarding this project and they are targeting towards establishing of at least 1500 water plants across 1476 slum areas in the jurisdiction of GHMC.
The areas which are not able to receive the water through pipelines are going to mainly benefit through this project. In coming next 100 days, GHMC is trying to establish all the 1500 water plants. On overall a total of 150 wards, the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment plant is going to be established in each ward. Regarding this, basing the selected 40 slum areas, already 12 acres got the tenders purchased.
Not only the above mentioned areas, the authorities were issued the circular saying that remaining slum areas which are in need of these plants should also be listed. For each plant, the cost is Rs.2.5 lakhs and the Rs.4 is going to be the cost for 20 liters of water. GHMC authorities are planning to give the administration responsibilities of these plants for the local unemployed people.
The major problem here is for all these water plant establishments, a room or at least a place for establishing for such room is required for all the 1476 slum areas. But finding such rooms or atleast areas in all the areas might be difficult.
Finally, the establishment of these water plants is not only beneficial for the slum areas in terms of getting drinking water, but also beneficial for the unemployed people in those concerned areas.
