Security forces have busted two major hideouts of NDFB(S) militants inside thick jungles in Assam's Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. Acting on a tip-off, army troops launched a search operation inside the thick jungles of Ripu Reserve Forest, approximately seven to eight km South from Indo-Bhutan Border, in Kokrajhar district. During search operations, an encounter took place with the NDFB(S) and the militants managed to escape, the spokesperson said.
The security forces recovered 3 AK-47, 4 grenades and approximately 500 rounds of AK-47 ammunition from the camp. Another NDFB(S) hideout was busted by Army in the thick jungles of the Manas Forest in Chirang District. The operation was launched on a specific intelligence input, regarding the presence of a hideout in Sadiya Ghat area in the forest. Three rifles, 176 rounds of live ammunition, gunpowder, a motorbike and other stores were recovered during the operation, the spokesperson said. This is a big catch for the security forces without involving any casualties.
The search operation by the Army is continuing. This busting of the hideouts is a major jolt for the militant group. There was a unrest created by these group few months back in which many lost their life and scores lost their livelihood. The Indian Army has put a strong fight against these militants to restore peace in the region. The militant outfit is now on the run. People of the region want peace and co-peration among the residents, but the militant group is trying to create conflict between the group for their own selfish motives.
