PhDs applied for peon post

When Uttar Pradesh government has released the job notification in the secretariat, shockingly even the PhDs have applied for the peon post.

The situation stated above is the best example for the scarcity of the employment opportunities in the country. The job notification was released just for 368 posts, whereas the number of applications received for the posts are, the huge 23 lakh. Out of such 23 lakh applications received, 255 were identified as the PhD holders, which put even the officials and also the country in shock.

The worst thing is, the eligibility for the peon post is class fifth and the knowledge of driving a bicycle. The people, who spent years of their life on education, applied for this level of eligibility post.

Adding to this, out of the total 368 posts, 268 are for general category and the rest are for SC, ST and other reserved categories in the age group of 18 to 40 years.

Apart from PhDs, 24969 postgraduates, 1.5 lakh graduates and 11.21 lakh high school applicants have applied for just a peon job in the Uttar Pradesh secretariat.

After receiving the applications, the UP government secretariat officials have decided to filter the applicants through the  interviews and even written tests for the first five ever.

Already, the state has been witnessing a huge political turmoil, with opposition parties attacking the Samajwadi Party government, for failing to keep its promise of creating employment to the people.

Reacting to the applications response, the Congress leaders, “It puts a question mark on the development claims of the SP government. What happened to SP's promise of providing jobs, when highly qualified people are applying for the post of peon and unemployment rate is so high.”

In fact, it is no just UP, but even other states, in that sense the Telugu states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also facing the same situation. Many graduates and PhDs of the Telugu states are not able to get a suitable job for them and are compromising with their career, applying for the jobs, which are nowhere linked with their skills, education etc.

If the government could think upon the issue and release timely job notifications, as per the educational abilities of the individuals, only then a right solution would be found out.
