Malls, movie theatres to stay open, 24 hours!

The Centre is considering a proposal of keeping open the restaurants, malls, movie theatres and all such commercial outings, for 24 hours.

The country is getting developed in the various fields. The individual development is showing an impact on the country’s development too. Due to this, the needs of the individuals are increasing and are looking out for a possible change.

Speculating this, on the beforehand, the Centre is now in a thought of permitting the commercial outings in the country, to remain open, all the 24 hours in a day.

The sources say that, the labour ministry will be holding the first round of three-party consultations with trade unions, employers and state representatives today. These parties would be asked for their views about the proposed draft of Shop and Establishment Act.

"This will be a model central Act, which will be advisory in nature, not binding on states. After collating the views of all stakeholders, the draft will be finalized and moved for Cabinet approval," said an undisclosed source.

Currently, the commercial shops are forced to close after a certain time. The rule is even a rule for malls in big cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkatta etc.  That is the reason of why, all the malls and restaurants remains closed at midnight.

If the new proposal is implemented, it is expected to benefit the brick and mortar  showrooms, as those face tough competition from the round-the-clock functioning of the rapidly increasing e-commerce industry in the country.

On the other side, the critics say that, if the proposal gets implemented that, then it would increase the human’s greed for money and works throughout the day and night, with the least concern about the health, which thus leads to several health problems.

However, the proposal comes into implementation, only after analyzing the several pros and cons and taking opinions from the large sections of the intellectuals.
