The South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta on Wednesday flagged off a new container train between Hyderabad and Chennai Port, from the Terminal Siding at Thimmapur in Mahabubnagar district. This initative was a part of facilitation export/import.
The train will run as a weekly container train and cater to the needs of the industry and market of Hyderabad. It will be adjoining districts like Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Medak, Warangal, Nalgonda and Guntur too.
The export commodities include bulk drug pharmaceuticals, engineering, electronics, automobile, textile and processed foods.
On the domestic front, sufficient cargo of commodities like granite, food items, raw materials and chemicals was expected to be generated in the circuit, said Mr. Gupta.
