A general body meeting was held at Vijayawada by the South Central Railway Employees Sangh. The meeting began in a grand way at the A plus convention hall on Thursday. More than 2,000 employees working in SCR attended the three-day mega conference.
Addressing the huge gathering, SCR Employees Sangh president G.Prabhakar Andrew said “the railway employees are gearing up for indefinite strike from July 11, 2016. They are going to protest against the policies of the Central government on allowing foreign direct investment in to the fields of railways, defense, privatization of government industries, scrapping of new pensions scheme etc.”
Prabhakar also alleged that the NDA government is trying to privatize the government industries and public sector undertakings against the wishes of lakhs of employees working in the public sector.
He said the strike notice was served to general manager on June 9. The protest was against the failure of the NDA government on the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission Recommendations. He called upon the railways employees to join the strike on July 11 without fail to strengthen the cause.
Prabhakar added that the railway employees were disappointed with the apathy shown by Railway Ministry under the NDA rule on the implementation of the Seventh pay commission recommendation.
