Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Takes Oath At Punjab Assembly Session

The newly elected MLAs, today, along with Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, took oath.

The ceremony took place, on the first day, of the first session of 15th Punjab assembly.

However, former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son, former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, were not present at the Assembly House, when it started its sitting this afternoon.

Amarinder Singh, was the first to be administered oath by the Pro-term Speaker, Rana KP Singh of Congress. The Punjabi CM, took oath in Punjabi.

After Amarinder Singh, Senior most cabinet ministers Brahm Mohindra took oath.

Other Cabinet Ministers, who took their oath included Navjot Singh Sidhu, Manpreet Singh Badal, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Rana Gurjit Singh, Charanjit Singh Channi; two ministers of State (independent charge) Aruna Chaudhary and Razia Sultana.

Aruna Chaudhary, took oath in English.

The pro-term speaker, took the oath, from even, Leader of opposition in the House and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Dakha H S Phoolka.

The oath to the MLAs, was administered by the pro-term speaker in the alphabetical order of assembly constituencies.

All the women MLAs, were administered oath individually.

The election of the speaker and the deputy speaker will be held on March 27.

Punjab governor V P Singh Badnore, will address the assembly on March 28.

Amarinder has been largely credited for the Congress party's win in Punjab, where it got a more than comfortable victory, winning 77 of 117 seats.
