Cyclone Asani changes track: AP gets Red Alert:- Cyclone Asani was predicted to hit the coast on Tuesday but it changed track and it is predicted to come close to the coast of Kolkata by 600-700 km. The states of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are expected to receive a huge rainfall today. The officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert for Andhra Pradesh (Kakinada, Bhimunipatnam and Gangavaram ports). The districts of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur are expected to receive huge rainfall along with huge wind. There is huge power disruption across Andhra Pradesh because of the huge winds and heavy rains. The government of AP arranged relief camps for the people residing near the coasts. The fishermen were asked to stay away from the sea.

Cyclone Asani is positioned over the western part of the Bay of Bengal between Puri and Gopalpur. The predictions say that it would turn weak and turn into a cyclonic storm from a severe cyclonic storm. The impact on Kolkata would be less told the Indian Meteorological Department. The winds are expected to be at a speed of 95 kmph. Special control rooms are arranged across the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. The marine cops along with the officials of the districts are supervising the arrangements and issued warnings for the people who are residing across the coast. All the beaches in AP are closed for public. The Centre announced that the NDRF, SDRF troops are ready to carry the rescue operations.
