Cyclone Asani weakens into a deep depression:- Cyclone Asani has brought the much needed relief from the scorching summer heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that Cyclone Asani made a landfall between Narasapuram and Machilipatnam on Wednesday night after it turned weak into a deep depression. “Deep Depression lay centered at 2330 hrs IST of 11th May, 2022 over coastal Andhra Pradesh, near Latitude 16.2°N and Longitude 80.9°E, close to West of Machilipatnam. To hover around the same region and weaken further into a depression by today, the May 12th morning,” told the official statement of IMD.

As per the reports, the cyclone would further weaken and make its way to Bay of Bengal in the coastal region of Kakinada and Yanam. The official health bulletin of IMD said "It is very likely to move nearly northwards for next few hours and recurve slowly north-northeastwards along Narsapur, Yanam, Kakinada, Tuni and Visakhapatnam coasts during noon to evening on Wednesday, and emerge into west-central Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh coasts by night". The states of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal will receive heavy rainfall today. The wind speed is expected to be 85 km per hour. The fishermen have been asked to stay away from sea till May 12th.
