Spicy Hansika's philanthropic side August 10, 2012 16:00

Spicy Hansika Motwani an Indian actress who has etched out a career of glam and sham in the tinsel world celebrated her birthday on Thursday. If one had an iota of an idea about the glam doll, it is only about her skin show in all her films and there is nothing else about it. But if you are of the same view then she demands more than that about her. True this young lady who turned 21 yesterday is an unread book and to tell you as a matter of fact, we all know only one side of the coin called Hansika Motwani. Be it in her debut Hindi film in her teens with  Himesh Reshammiya in Aap Kaa Surroor  or in the Telugu film Deshamuduru with Bunny  or in Tamil with Dhanush in Mappillai or in Kannada with Puneet Rajkumar in Bindaas, this girl was all of her charms. Nevertheless the seductress blonde is basically a philanthropist and spends huge amounts of her personal earnings in maintaining children. She adopted 20 children last year on her 20th birthday. She's doing an encore this year as well. The actress is adopting two more children this time. "These kids are living in Mumbai with their parents. I will provide the financial support to all of them for their education and also other monetary assistance," says Hansika adding that she also wants to build an old age home in the city. Taking a deeper look at her philanthropic attitude at this young age, is to be attributed to her being deprived of parents love at a very young age. Hansika parents Pradeep Motwani, a businessman and Mona Motwani, a dermatologist separated in 2004 and the actor lives with her mother with her brother Prashant Motwani. Probably this could have affected her more, say observers. On the professional fronts, her Tamil hit 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' dubbed into Telugu as OKOK is going to packed houses. She also has 'Denikaina Ready' with Vishnu Manchu and an untitled flick with Naga Chaitanya, in Telugu. In Tamil she has 'Settai' with Arya, Anjali, Santhanam, 'Vaalu' with Simbu, 'Vettai Mannan' with Simbu again and 'Singam 2' with Suriya and Anushka Shetty! Quite a busy star at the moment. And probably this time when we watch on the big screen, our attitude might have a change....(With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)

Janmashtami, Radha Krishna remembered August 09, 2012 11:16

Janmashtami the birth day of Lord Sri Krishna is celebrated across the nation with fervor. The word Krishna means "one who is always in the transport of joy", also means "black" which was the color of Lord Krishna. The whole nation is gearing up to celebrate the occasion on  August 10, Friday from 6pm-12 mid night. But what is important is that on this festive day, Radha Krishna is most remembered. And the word Radha Krishna transpires all into a world of romance. Lord Krishna had 16,000 concerts as per one story and had nearly 1,61,080 sons. And Rukmini the reincarnation of Goddess Lakshmi was the head-queen of the palace in Dwaraka. Amidst all this why is this mystical name Radha Krishna ever reckoned in connection to romance. As per a myth Radha was even older to Krishna and had always adored him. In general Radha means ‘perfection’, ‘success’ and even ‘wealth. Vrindavan and Mathura are considered to be the centers of Radha-Krishna worship. The eternal romance between the Lord Krishna and Radha are depicted well in 'Rasa leela' in Krishna Purana. There is also a myth that Radha is the original form of 'shakti' who later decimated into the 16,000 gopikas. And the 'Rasa leela' depicts the various ways the Lord did to please them at the same time. Radha is the symbol of selfless devotion, while the Lord ruled the entire living beings, it was Radha who ruled him. This was possible due to her severe and constant thoughts that only had the Lord in its epicenter. Hence Radha is known to be the ultimate devotee and Meera Bhai followed her intensely. This simply implies that selfless devotion helps one reach moksha. To this day Radha Krishn are remembered fro their innate moments and the thought about them drifts the youthto distant lands of romance. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)

Janmashtami celebrated on Friday August 07, 2012 12:04

The phenomenon call 'Krishna' is ever eternal and is a universally acclaimed character. The Lord's Janmashtami or birthday is being celebrated across the country on August 10, Friday. The celebrations will start at 6pm and will last until 12 midnight. Krishna took birth at midnight on the ashtami or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Shravan (August-September). The word Krishna means “one who is always in the transport of joy”, also means “black” which was the colour of Lord Krishna. Indian as well as Western scholars have now accepted the period between 3200 and 3100 BC as the period in which Lord Krishna lived on earth. The devotees of Lord Krishna observe fast for the whole day and night, worshiping him and keeping vigil through the night while listening to his tales and  recite hymns from the Gita, sing devotional songs, and chant the mantra 'Om namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.' The celebrations also include ecstatic performances, dance, interactive media shows, children’s shows and devouring the most delicious of dishes and delicacies prepared especially for the occasion of Janmashtami. While the whole country celebrates the Janmashtami, it is at Dwaraka that the celebrations are most talked off. Dwaraka is one of the four dhamas or abodes of the Lord, the other three being Rameshwaram in the South, Puri in the East and Badrinath in the North. As per the myth  Lord Krishna founded the city of Dwaraka. And the  Dwarakanath or Sri Krishna temple celebrates the festival with fervour and grandeur. All pilgrims who visit Dwaraka must take a bath in this sacred Gomati kunda (tank) which is considered very auspicious by the Hindu myth. Phenomenon of Sri Krishna is quite amazing and yet to be fully realized for better insight into the character. As per the myth the birth of Sri Krishna is due to the various boons granted by the lord in earlier mortal forms. To fulfill all those vows he takes the incarnation of Sri Krishna. Three things that keep us intrigued are the mischievous butter robbery in the childhood, frivolous rapport with Gopikas as an adult and the political planning in Kurukshetra. As for the butter issue the lord meant to warn his devotees is feed the wanting and simply donot store it away to stale. Many of us are in the habit of storing the excess in to our cold storage than parting with it. He simply meant prepare, consume or store what you need and donot crave for beyond your need which might turn into greed. In the case of Gopikas issue, was totally misconstrued by many. If one takes a deeper look then the fact is at the same time Sri Krishna keeps the company of every Gopika and comforts her. If the Gopikas are his subjects, infact Dwaraka was constructed by Viswakarma for the lord. And in it he lived with his 16,000 concerts as per one story and had nearly 1,61,080 sons. That simply means that a ruler must treat all his subjects as his chiledren and must be by there side in the hour of need. Such a leader is considered as good King. But many have taken the negative analysis on the whole issue. The last is the Kuruskhetra affair where the lord is known for his politicking as per modern words. This only shows that truth triumphs by all means. In a nutshell Lord meant to show that following the path of Dharma (Righteousness) and good Karma (Deeds) is the basic path to attain Moksha (salvation). As per His divine grace A.C. BHAKTIVEDANT SWAMI PRABHUPAD 'Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is an historical person who appeared on this earth 5,000 years ago. He stayed on this earth for 125 years and played exactly like a human being, but His activities were unparalleled.' (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)

Amidst honor killings is Rakhi a 'super power' to Woman August 02, 2012 09:31

Rakhi and Honour Killings are two extremes of human relations. Raksha Bandhan is a ceremony adhered by the sisters by tying a colorful thread on the brothers wrist requesting him to be protective towards the weaker gender. While the female chauvinists call it gender discrimination begins fro m here, the Indian culture feels it is the bonding between the siblings that plays up-moods with such festivities. Raksha Bandhan was initially a festival in the Northern parts of the country, but like good fragrance is just not restricted to owner's garden alone, the custom started spreading across the lengths and breadths of this vast nation. Rakhi according to the veterans is a festive occasion like globally celebrating the English new year or yearning for haleem in the Ramzan months and Biriyan during Bakrid time. Or rather it Rakhi is not a ritual but a sign of bonding and hence must be universal. The whole festivity, that falls on the full moon day of the 'shravan' month, starts with a thread tied by the sister on her bro's wrist. And then she feeds him with home made and mostly self made delicacies. Then the overwhelmed  bro' gifts his sister and assures her of his protection, love and affection all through his life. The ritual is so well planned that at no pint of the whole issue is a particular god or belief is reckoned. It is about bonding, human relationship filled with love and caring. Hence the arguments to make it universal is really worth the issue. Now coming to the dastardly act of honor killings. In most cases that are virulent across the nation, it is either the brother and or the father kill the girls for marrying against their wishes. Inspite of all these rituals and festivals, why this extreme steps. Acquaintance, rapport or wedding is culmination of two hearts irrespective of any social status and why this reluctance and violence. Is there any honor in killing. None in the right senses would disagree on this. When I started on this article my editor asked me how I would link the both and I just said both deal with human relations. If what I write atleast gives some one a chance to rethink on their violence, probably the efforts are worth my life......(With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)

London Olympics 2012, memories down the lane July 27, 2012 12:17

Bang the seven-year anticipation of the London Olympics 2012 ends today with a spectacular opening ceremony under the aegis of noted Hollywood director Danny Boyle. The opening ceremony will begin at 9 p.m. locally. That's 4 p.m. on the east coast, 1 p.m. in the bay and the rest of the west coast. The ceremony shall begin with the sound of a 27-ton bell, the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, forged at London's 442-year-old Whitechapel Bell Foundry, which made London's Big Ben and Philadelphia's Liberty Bell. London Olympics 2012 is officially known as The Games f the XXX Olympiad. However this is not the first time that the country has held the historic  once in four years game. This is the third dosage of the mammoth event. The first, in 1908, was moved from Rome to London at almost the last minute because of the 1906 eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The second London Games, in 1948, was known as the Austerity Games, coming so soon after the devastation of World War II. No Olympic Village was built, athletes were on rations and were asked to bring their own toiletries. Germany, Japan and the Soviet Union did not compete. But it was the biggest Olympics to that point (59 countries and more than 4,000 athletes), and it was the first Olympic Games to be featured on television. However London Olympics 2012 will go down the history as the maximum participated games which includes women from all countries. There will be 205 countries, participating in  302 or more events while more than 10,500 athletes expected to compete. Even the patronage has increased beyond figments of imagination. As per rough estimates nearly 9 million are going to watch live and 4 billion on televisions. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
