FSM : Fire Safety Measures are must for all the private school managements within the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation have been asked to instal fire safety measures as per the National Building Code of India before June, 2011, or face legal action, a press note from the corporation informed on Thursday.

At a review meeting on Thursday, the Additional Director, Fire Prevention Wing, C.Lakshmi Prasad said the schools will be given No Objection Certificate from the wing after such installation. The managements have been further asked to complete works pertaining to electrical safety, and to provide fire extinguishers, the note said.

They have also been told to provide at least one additional staircase if the building is multi-storeyed, and if the occupant load per floor is more than 50 students. Fire drills twice in a year were recommended, and guidelines were issued accordingly.
