An opportunity to exhibit their talent.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in reading and writing English poems have an opportunity to exhibit their talent and win cash prizes.

The Loyola English Language Teaching (ELT) Centre of the Andhra Loyola College is organising ‘Poetry 2010', a competition in poetry reading and poetry writing, on August 27, on the eve of inauguration of Loyola Literary Society.

ALC Principal A. Francis Xavier and Loyola ELT Centre Director P. Ramanujam say that undergraduate students and postgraduate students of any stream are eligible to participate in the competition. However, a college should send not more than four students, and all the four may participate in both contests. Each student will have to pay Rs.50 towards registration fee, whether the participation is in one event or both. The names should be sent by the principals to N. Nirmala Mary, convenor, Poetry 2010, by August 23.

They could contact the convenor on 94401-83465 for more details. The students participating in poetry reading contest could choose a poem of their choice and read it out aloud for not more than four minutes and not less than two minutes. This event will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. From 3 p.m. to 3.45 p.m., poetry writing competition will be held, in which the participants shall write an original poem of at least 14 lines on any one of the five to six themes to be announced then.
