Telangana To Set Up Security Operations Centre By 2018:- Telangana State has unveiled its plans to set up its own Security Operations Centre (SOC). The SOC will act as an infrastructure to audit and monitor critical government data. The TS is the only State in the country to launch a policy on cyber security.
The SOCs deal with security issues on an organizational and technical level and are centralized units globally. This acts as a central location for the staff to supervise the site using data processing technology. However, this kind of unit for its government departments and data sets wants to be emulated by the youngest State of India. Not only in its own data base will the security threats be monitored by the SOC in Telangana, but also globally. It will also study the patterns of the attack. This will provide a line for the State to secure their data.

Elaborating more on this Telangana IT Prinicipal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan told a leading news paper, “We are close to setting up a SOC in Telangana. We are announcing the bidding process and floating our tender in this month. And in two months’ time we will be finalizing the agency that will be setting up this centre. We are hopeful that by next year, the centre will be operational.” He also added that the SOC will be co-located the State Data Centre.

While speaking at the third edition of Cyber Security Conclave, the Secretary also called for synergy and collaboration between government organizations, private companies and other agencies to fight cyber-crime. “There is a much more information sharing needed between different agencies and that is something lacking in our country,” Ranjan said in his key note speech. The Cyber Security Conclave was organized by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council.
Ranjan, addressing about the different initiatives taken by the government after formation of the cyber security policy, said different sensitization programmes are being organized by the State in collaboration with industry body like Nasscom and Universities, to train students. In addition, it also looking to partner with different agencies to develop mechanisms to curb online crime, he informed.
