NGO installs water purification plant in Haiti

An NGO by Sikh community members, United Sikhs started a water purification plant in Haiti to provide pure drinking water to at least 5000 people who are survived in the major earthquake that had hit the region in 2010. With the help of reverse osmosis process, this plant aims at providing clean drinking water. Since the chances of spreading of cholera were bright in this region, the NGO came up with the purification plant.

Elucidating the developmental programmes being undertaken by United Sikhs, the NGO'S director Gurvinder Singh said they (United Sikhs) distributed large amounts of rice to over 20 orphanage homes. The rice was distributed at Santa la Plaine, Aux Cayes, Montrouis, Mirebalais and other parts of the country.

The developmental programmes by United Sikhs is turning out to be boon to a large number of people in Haiti whose life went for a toss with the worst earthquake.
