A person hailing from Gujarat and migrated to the United States in 2001 was on Saturday stabbed to death by two burglars in Newark. Fifty-eight-year old Hemant Chaunah resided at Santiniketan society and had purchased a stores in 2011. Prior to that he was working in motels. The police said that two persons walked into the stores (Newport Penn Bantam Market) and jumped over the country to demand the cash. Since Hemant was reluctant, he was stabbed repeatedly in stomach after which the thief ran away with some cash, which he picked from the country.

Hemant Chaunhan was immediately rushed to nearby hospital and the doctors said he was brought dead.  The son of Hemanth, Vishal who stays in Surat with his wife, reportedly applied for a visa in order to perform last rites of his father.
