Gurbani-the pain of Indian brides deserted by NRI husbands

Gurbani-a programme on Colors television channel-could be a fiction work but it undoubtedly connects with many abandoned brides in the country as the show holds mirror up to the lives of village girls who will get married to NRIs and keep on waiting for their grooms to take them to foreign lands until they realize that they were being cheated.

Gurbani revolves around a young woman from Amritsar. Her mother will force her to marry a filthy rich NRI groom. If we cut the scene there, another character Rano-who will be dressed as a bride-will run after a train and searches for her husband among the group of people who alight the train. This becomes her business for the past 20 years as two decades will just fly waiting for her husband to return.

There are many such real tales in India especially in Punjab wherein NRI husbands abandon their wives soon after marrying them. It's really appreciable that Colors has come up with a programme like this.
