In a move that only spelt over confidence of the selectors, England has decided to rest Kevin Pietersen following the Test series win. But he has been named in the squad for Wednesday's Twenty20 international with India.
The reasoning of the board was that they were resting him and providing opportunities for another batsman, presumably Ian Bell, to bat at four but it is a curious move as England have a relatively quiet programme between now and Christmas.
Petersen was at his best during the Test series against India. And was a party to the Indian debacle. His excellence in the tests includes a double ton at Lord’s and a 175 at The Oval. He was the leading run getter in the test series with 553 on board and with an average of 106.60. He was at the best of his career inspite of a bleak prospect at the start of the series.
