On the fourth day, today, in the ninth edition of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup at the magnificent Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, India takes on Bhutan. This is one match the hosts must show their comfort levels and consolidate their positions by winning in style. India is comparatively a better team but every win counts in the game. And the poor performance in the earlier match against Afghanistan, where the hosts could forcefully just pull a draw, was unexpected.
Meanwhile Bhutan had a tough time and lost against Sri Lanka in their first match, where they went down by 3-0. India coach Savio Medeira says "We cannot take any team lightly in this competition. It is a must win match for us. But we also have to win by a big margin because the goal difference may come handy as things look tight on the points table," after the training session here Sunday at the Ambedkar Stadium.
India (likely): Karanjit Singh; Mahesh Gawli, Nirmal Chettri, Syed Rahim Nabi, Gouramangi Singh; Climax Lawrence, Clifford Miranda, Steven Dias, Rocus Lamare; Jeje Lalpekhlua and Sunil Chhetri.
A last minute strike by Sagar Thapa gave Nepal a 1-0 win over Bangladesh while Pakistan and the Maldives played out a goalless draw on Sunday.
