Archery Squad leaves for Bangkok

The Indian archery squad set off to conquer at Bangkok, which shall aid their performance at the London games and brighten their medal prospects.

The sixteen member Indian Archery squad has left to Bangkok to take part in the first Asian Grand Prix at Bangkok Feb 14-20. After a three day strenuous exercise the squad was named and the squad had departed from Kolkata on Monday.  On the women’s front no change was done and the women's recurve team which participated at the Asian meet in October last was retained. In the men’s Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champia had walked in while Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Daswere axed from the squad.

The squad: Recurve: Men: Jayanta Talukdar (SPSB), Mangal Singh Champia, Rahul Banerjee (both Rly) and Thupuvoyi Swuro (Nag).  Women: Deepika Kumari (SPSB), L. Bombayla Devi (Rly), Chekrovolu Swuro (Nag) and Rimil Buriuly (Rly). Compound: Men: Ch. Jignas (Ser), Rajat Chauhan (Raj), Ritul Chatterjee (AP) and C. Srither (Ser).  Women: Gagandeep Kaur (Pun), Manjudha Soy (Jhr), Praveena (Pun) and Jhano Hansdah (Jhr).  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
